Supporting Cargotec in Kalmar separation
Melkki supported Cargotec in the separation of the full IT stack and IT operations for Kalmar as a standalone company
Background & Challenge
As the first part of their transformation journey, announced in spring 2023, Cargotec decided to separate Kalmar into it’s own stock listed company. This initiated a significant IM (Information Management) transformation program that included changes in organization, applications, infrastructure, services, contracting, and other IT capabilities and processes.
Scope involved the separation of 260 applications and infrastructure setup as well as supporting services
Our Approach
The selected Melkki team provided crucial support across these areas, addressing IM technical, operational, and contractual aspects. Their role involved managing multiple projects within IM separation management office and collaborating closely with Cargotec’s management and key IT stakeholders.
Melkki team delivered comprehensive guidance and support across multiple IM areas, including strategy development, sourcing, and program management.
Impact & Value Delivered
Successful collaboration ensured a well-executed separation process with minimal disruptions. This enabled good basis to build the new IM organization.
"The Melkki team of specialized professionals with their proactive attitude were a key asset for us throughout the separation project. The team was ready to challenge us and bring new insights when needed, support when needed and always carried through their part of the workload. " - Pia Lax-Lehtelä, Separation Management Office Lead
